Flexible Charging that Fits Your Business
Flexible charging models accommodate diverse business needs across high-volume Plus catalogues. Charge upfront, charge-later via deferred-charge, take a deposit, or run multi-step payment plans with Pay Early discounts stacked on top.
PreProduct lets enterprise brands capture pre-orders and cash flow for upcoming launches at any point in the product cycle, with all stakeholders comfortable with the model behind it.
"PreProduct is the greatest Shopify pre-order app if you need to have the ability to pre-book out of stock items without having to charge customers until the product actually ships. It lets you determine interest before committing to production and/or financing. Highly recommended!"
Enterprise inventory governance: max limits, mixed vs isolated carts, Functions-powered checkout validation
Controlled overselling,
at Plus scale.
Mixed or isolated carts; your call. Keep pre-orders in the same checkout as buy-nows when you want the AOV lift, or force them into their own order when mixed fulfilment is undesirable for high-volume drops.
Variant-level max limits and per-customer caps set the ceiling. Shopify Function-powered checkout validations enforce every rule at checkout, the iron-clad backstop for high-volume Plus catalogues if anything slips past the frontend.
"Game changer for us. PreProduct has transformed the way our small team is able to manage pre-orders. It's been a massive operational unlock. The app itself is intuitive, fast to implement, and fits seamlessly into our existing workflows. Oli's support has been exceptional. He guided us through a smooth integration that worked with our current fulfillment and inventory processes, and went far ..."
Communicate to high-volume shoppers and sell earlier without scaling support
A Shopify Plus pre-order app that keeps customers in the loop
Maintain customer loyalty whilst running large-scale pre-order campaigns. Communicate via custom front-end wording, customer portals, and segmented email campaigns. Letting PreProduct handle pre-order communication from when the order is placed keeps your support team unburdened by the volume of pre-order tickets that would otherwise hit them.
Need to update the estimated shipping date for a listing that’s been pre-sold thousands of times? Send out an update email and let customers know they can check their pre-order portal at any time for reassurance and confirmation.
"Run, don't walk and install PreProduct! We've been a very long time looking for the perfect pre order app and can happily report we've found it! The deferred payment options and flexibility are absolute game changers, and better yet – the support and service"
Conversion levers for high-AOV Plus carts: installments, pay-early discounts, pre-order-only offers
Take more pre-orders.
Meet buyers
where they are.
Let high-AOV customers break premium items into 2, 3 or more installments within a max schedule you set. Reward buyers who settle ahead of time with an optional pay-early discount. Stack a pre-order-only percentage off to reward early commitment on launch drops. Every lever’s off by default, flip on what fits the campaign.
Installments
Offer payment plans so customers can pay over time. All through Shopify Payments, no BNPL required.
Pay early
Give customers the option to pay early. Reward early commitment with discounts, or just charge the full amount.
Built on Shopify Plus: native checkout extensibility, B2B catalogues, fulfilment holds
Runs on
Shopify’s rails,
not around them
Pre-orders flow through your native Shopify checkout — including Plus’s checkout extensibility (UI extensions, Functions, branded checkouts) — not a custom one that breaks shipping, tax logic or discount codes. Fulfilment holds pause pre-orders until you release them, then they hit your 3PL like any other order.
Plus-specific rails are first-class: B2B catalogues, Markets, Shopify Flow at depth, and multi-store roll-up reporting. Control how pre-orders flow to your ERP through order tags, line-item properties, Flow actions, or our API.

Powerful Automations and API for Scale and Control
Manage pre-orders without scaling your team. PreProduct offers many of its own automations, as well as in-depth Shopify Flow and Klaviyo integrations.

15 custom Flow actions and 16 custom Flow triggers connect pre-orders to the rest of your Shopify ecosystem. 10+ pre-order events push to Klaviyo automatically, enabling lifecycle marketing and segmentation. Full API access to listings, customers, charges and more.

ERPs, 3PLs, and Warehouse Management Systems
Integrate with Your Tech Stack and Fulfilment Flow
Most ERPs and 3PLs don’t natively support pre-orders, leading to premature shipments and inventory sync issues. PreProduct solves this by supporting many different ways of managing fulfilment signals.
PreProduct applies Shopify’s “On Hold” status to orders automatically. When your inventory arrives, trigger fulfilment releases by listing or customer. When fulfilment holds aren’t supported, we work with the merchant to create a custom flow based on order tags, line item properties or Shopify Flow applied actions.
Choose whether to allow mixed carts (buy-now + pre-order items). If your 3PL supports partial fulfilment, ship available items immediately while holding pre-orders. If not, force isolated pre-order carts for operational simplicity.

Shopify Plus Pre-order FAQ
We have smaller merchants regularly sign up the same day they launch, using our auto-installer. For Plus implementations, we recommend 1-2 weeks from kickoff to first pre-order campaign live. This gives time for implementation, as well as tweaking the pre-order flow to your needs. All plans come with a free instance for your test store.
How long does implementation take for Shopify Plus stores?
Yes. PreProduct works with Checkout Extensibility, letting you customize messaging and supported discounts.
Do you support custom Shopify Plus checkout extensions?
Yes. Scale and Scale Plus tiers include a free plan for any test stores you may have set up. Test new automations, campaign types, or checkout flows without affecting production.
Can we test in a staging environment before going live?
Most Shopify pre-order solutions are backed by the Shopify orders admin, meaning order data is safe there. We can’t migrate past pre-orders, but can work with you to migrate current listings across to PreProduct.
What happens to our existing pre-order data if we migrate from another solution?
PreProduct is needed on each of your Shopify store instances. The easiest way to check how many store instances you have is by the number of myshopify.com domains you have. We support Shopify Markets, so customers can pay in their local currency with automatic conversion on your end.
How do you handle pre-orders across multiple stores and currencies?
15 custom Flow actions (create listing, charge customer, release fulfilment, update listing discount, etc.) and 16 custom Flow triggers (Pre-order created, charge succeeded, charge failed, email sent, etc.). Build workflows that connect pre-orders to the rest of your Shopify data and processes. See our Shopify Flow documentation for more information.
What automation options are available with Shopify Flow?
PreProduct uses your Shopify inventory, whether you’ve enabled overselling or not. When using our Listing Manager automation, you can set pre-order rules based on inventory levels and tags.
How does the solution handle inventory syncing across locations?
Shopify Payments and PayPal support all pre-order payment models (charge upfront, charge later, deposits). Most third-party payment gateways don’t support deferred charging (charge-later models). PreProduct works with any gateway for charge-upfront pre-orders, but charge-later and deposit models require gateways that support card vaulting.
What payment gateways are supported besides Shopify Payments?
PreProduct’s vaulted card technology bypasses the standard 7-day Shopify authorization period. Instead of authorizing cards (which expire after 7 days), we vault cards and charge when you trigger fulfillment. No authorization expiration issues, even for long lead times.
How do you handle authorization extensions for delayed shipments?
Yes. PreProduct doesn’t store card details; we use Shopify Payments or PayPal to vault customer cards. All payment data is stored and processed by PCI-compliant payment processors (Shopify Payments, PayPal). This means your customer payment data is protected by the same security standards that protect all Shopify transactions.
Are you PCI-DSS compliant for enterprise merchants?
Developer support includes help with setup, as well as smaller customisations to your storefront pre-order flow.
What does developer support include?
Our infrastructure auto-scales to handle traffic spikes, and we’ve processed tens of thousands of pre-orders per hour in peak periods.
How do you handle peak launch periods with high volume?
PreProduct uses native Shopify APIs for catalogue, payments and orders, as well as your regular checkout. When ERPs or 3PLs need extra help, PreProduct’s API and Shopify Flow integration are waiting. Merchants often use the “pre-order” tag or line item properties that PreProduct adds to isolate orders in ERPs and 3PLs.
Which ERP systems integrate with your platform?
Yes, as long as they support Shopify. If they support the Shopify fulfilment status of “On hold”, then no manual work is needed. If they don’t, we can work with you to create a custom flow based on order tags, line item properties or Shopify Flow applied actions.
Can we connect to our existing warehouse management system?
Yes. PreProduct supports headless Shopify storefronts. They just sometimes need extra help on the integration side.
Do you support headless commerce implementations?
Yes. Complete API reference at preproduct.stoplight.io. Full access to listings, orders, charges, and more. RESTful API with standard authentication and example code in multiple languages.
