“Amazing app! It is really the best ‘pre-order now, pay at shipment’ app for businesses that deal with pre-orders. The dev team is constantly adding new features to improve the customer experience, and our company has seen huge growth by allowing pay-later pre-orders. The dev team is also super nice and great to work with on any issues and questions.”

Run pre-orders
on autopilot,
your way

Automations do two things: take the repetitive work off your plate, and shape pre-orders to fit how your store actually runs. Nine native workflows cover the basics: auto-charge when stock arrives, auto-list as variants come back, auto-retry failed payments, weekly reports.

Tap into WooCommerce hooks and our REST API for the store-specific tweaks most merchants end up needing. Klaviyo, Gorgias and other first-party integrations pick up from there.

"The app dev team is extremely responsive and very helpful! We are a fast-growing company in the health and wellness space, and so we sell out or take preorders quite often. We also have some nuances to our website that have required tweaks to the app. We always land on some version of the app's settings that help move our business forward."

WooCommerce Pre‑orders FAQ

Can I offer WooCommerce pre-orders?

Yes, with a plugin or app like PreProduct, you can offer pre-orders on your WooCommerce store. PreProduct integrates seamlessly with WooCommerce, allowing you to take pre-orders and manage payments flexibly.

How do I sell products that have an inventory of 0 in WooCommerce?

If you want to track inventory and take sales for out-of-stock SKUs, PreProduct allows you to hold orders externally, ensuring that you can manage pre-orders without affecting your current stock levels.

How do I set up a pre-order button with WooCommerce?

To set up a pre-order button with WooCommerce, simply add the necessary attributes to your add-to-cart buttons (or contact our support team to do it for you). PreProduct will hijack these buttons to use for pre-orders whenever there’s an active listing.

Can I add multiple pre-order products to the cart

Absolutely, PreProduct lets you redirect to a special pre-order cart where multiple pre-order items can be added. Even if they’re different kinds of pre-order.

How does inventory management work with PreProduct on WooCommerce?

PreProduct doesn’t push orders into your WooCommerce orders admin until you trigger charges/fulfilment from within the app.

What happens if there’s a change in the expected release date of a pre-ordered item?

Communication is key for pre-orders. With PreProduct, you can send update emails to inform customers of any changes. Customers can also access their dedicated pre-order portal anytime to check for real-time information and product availability dates.

Do I need any other tools or plugins installed for this functionality?

PreProduct is designed to work seamlessly with WooCommerce without needing any additional app installations. However, you will need an account with a supporting payment provider e.g Stripe.

Can I bulk list pre-orders for WooCommerce?

Yes! With PreProduct, you can manage bulk listings effectively, whether it’s product releases or out-of-stock items. You can either use our bulk lister or listing manager automation to create the listings automatically, then use PreProduct’s templates feature to update and sync groups of listings.

Do pre-orders take money immediately?

PreProduct offers the option to charge either upfront or later for pre-orders, allowing you to charge customers when ready (deposits also supported). This provides flexibility in managing when and how payments are processed.

Can I still offer a pre-order if I’m not sure when my product will ship?

Yes, our WooCommerce pre-order system lets you take pre-orders without a fixed shipping date. You can notify your customers before they’re charged/mid-campaign when you have a definite shipping date.

However, we recommend being transparent before customers purchase in your pre-sale, making sure to customize front-end wording via the PreProduct app, so that customers know the complete terms of purchase.

Can I change my discount?

Yes, the discount is ‘locked in’ to previous individual orders, future orders will pay according to the new one.

Can I change my shipping date?

Absolutely. Should any changes arise in your supply chain, you can update the estimated shipping statement in PreProduct. It’s then up to you whether you’d like to communicate these changes via an email update or just rely on the customer portal being updated.

Changes to pre-order shipping statements mid-campaign are quite common, we would just recommend using charge-later or partial payment pre-orders if you think the shipping times could blow out (as customers could be less forgiving if they pay the full amount upfront).
