“Amazing app! It is really the best “pre-order now, pay at shipment” Shopify app for businesses that deal with pre-orders. The dev team is constantly adding new features to improve the customer experience, and our company has seen huge growth by allowing pay-later pre-orders. The dev team is also super nice and great to work with on any issues and questions.”

“The app does what it says. In our case it enables us to start selling and test the popularity of different variants so we can make important decisions with design and product add-ons before we start production. PreProduct is a great app that is highly recommended for anyone who wants to get the sales going before product is ready to ship. Customer service is top notch.”

Webflow Pre-orders FAQ
While Webflow doesn’t offer native pre-order functionality (meaning you can’t sell a product with 0 stock or charge customers later), you can untick the “track inventory” option in the Webflow product admin and manually change your button text to “pre-order.” If you want to take pre-orders for 0 stock products and charge later or use deposits, PreProduct combined with Webflow offers this functionality.
Can I offer Webflow pre-orders?
Webflow features a “track inventory” setting at the product level, which when unticked allows any variant through checkout. If you want to track inventory and take sales for 0-stock SKUs, a third-party tool like PreProduct, which holds orders externally, is required.
How do I sell products that have an inventory of 0 in Webflow?
If you’re pre-selling by not ticking Webflow’s “track inventory” setting, you can use your add-to-cart buttons like normal.
To use your own buttons with PreProduct, you’ll just need to set a custom attribute in Webflow of `data-native-pre-order-btn` . This will cause PreProduct to hijack the button and use it for pre-orders whenever there’s an active listing in PreProduct.
How to set up a Pre-order Button on Webflow?
Absolutely, PreProduct lets you nominate buttons to use for pre-orders. Meaning you can use your regular add-to-cart button as a base. The button will be ‘hijacked’ whenever the selected variant is on pre-order.
Can I design the pre-order button in Webflow?
PreProduct doesn’t push orders into your Webflow inventory settings as that’s currently not supported at the Webflow level. However, both PreProduct and your payment processor (Stripe, etc) will display order information which you can then use in your fulfilment software of choice.
How does inventory management work with PreProduct on Webflow?
Communication is key. With PreProduct, you can send out update emails to inform customers of any changes. They can also access their dedicated pre-order portal anytime to check for real-time information and product availability dates.
What happens if there’s a change in the expected release date of a pre-ordered item?
PreProduct is designed to work seamlessly with Webflow without needing any additional app installations. However, you will need an account with a supporting payment provider feel free to send us an email for the current options).
Do I need any other tools or plugins installed for this functionality?
Yes! With PreProduct, you can manage bulk listings effectively, whether it’s product releases or out-of-stock items. You can either use our bulk lister or listing manager automation to create the listings automatically, then use PreProduct’s templates feature to update and sync groups of listings.
Can I bulk list pre-orders for Webflow?
As described above, Webflow native purchases always charge straight away (unless they’re subscriptions).
However, PreProduct offers the option to list deferred-charge pre-orders where you can charge later or use split payments. It’s completely up to you when to charge.
Do pre-orders take money immediately?
Yes, our Webflow pre-order system lets you take pre-orders without a fixed shipping date. You can notify your customers before they’re charged/mid-campaign when you have a definite shipping date.
It’s worth being transparent before customers purchase in your pre-sale, making sure to customize front-end wording via the PreProduct app, so that customers know the complete terms of purchase.
Can I still offer a pre-order if I’m not sure when my product will ship?
Yes, the discount is ‘locked in’ to previous individual orders, future orders will pay according to the new one.
Can I change my discount?
Absolutely. Should any changes arise in your supply chain, you can update the estimated shipping statement in PreProduct. It’s then up to you whether you’d like to communicate these changes via an email update or just rely on the customer portal being updated.
Changes to pre-order shipping statements mid-campaign are quite common, we would just recommend using charge-later or partial pay pre-orders if you think the shipping times could blow out (as customers could be less forgiving if they pay the full amount upfront).
